Exploring the Legal, Regulatory, and Financial Dimensions of the Renewable Energy Sector
India is undergoing a significant transformation in its energy sector, driven by an ambitious goal to achieve 500 GW of non-fossil fuel energy capacity by 2030. With a strong push for domestic manufacturing, policy incentives, and adoption of emerging technologies, the country is positioning itself as a global leader in the clean energy transition.
In this research paper, we examine the key budgetary and policy developments announced in 2024–25 that are energising India’s clean energy future. The paper provides insights into India’s focus on green hydrogen, solar and wind energy, and small modular nuclear reactors. It also highlights the investment requirements, legal considerations, and regulatory hurdles that need to be addressed to ensure long-term sustainability and private sector participation.
